DANCE CLASSES
We love to dance and our dance school offers a huge range of dance classes from traditional Ballet to Acrobatic Art. Dancing and teaching dance is a passion for all of our dance teachers and we ensure that all our classes are fun, friendly and professional.
Here are some Frequently Asked Questions about our classes and if you would like more information please don’t hesitate to contact us.
What is the cost of your dance classes and how often do you pay?
There are set prices depending upon the length of the class i.e. 30 minutes, 45 minutes or one hour. We offer one free trial class for as many styles as required to ascertain which is most enjoyable to the student. Thereafter, fees are paid half termly in advance. (Usually 6 to 7 weeks) Many of our classes fill up quickly so you will need to contact us in advance to ensure there is a space for you. If your requested class is full we do hold waiting lists.
What do I wear for my first dance class?
Being a Royal Academy School, we have a strict uniform policy which we believe is a good discipline and teaches respect for the art. Hair should be tied back off the face and in a bun for ballet students where possible. All items of uniform are available at competitive prices in our onsite dancewear shop. For your first dance lesson the uniform is not required and we suggest that you simply wear something comfortable as there is no point in incurring uniform costs until the student decides whether or not they wish to continue.
As a parent can I accompany my child when they go in to class?
No. We discourage parents from going in to the dance studios. This builds confidence, particularly with younger children. We find that when parents do go in with them, it disrupts the class as they tend to run backwards and forwards to Mummy and Daddy. We have a fully operational cafe/waiting area with Wi-Fi for your convenience and we can assure you that if your child was unhappy during the class, they would be brought out to you immediately.
When can I see my child’s progress?
Parents of younger students will be invited in to class from time to time for class demonstrations. We take lots of videos to share with parents too. We also have performance opportunities from time to time.
When is the dance school open?
We follow North Tyneside school holiday terms however we generally work the first Saturday and Sunday of each school break. Dates are given on our invoices which are handed out on the last class of each half term.
Will my child do exams?
We do encourage students to take part in exams as it gives them something to work towards. However exams are NOT compulsory and are totally the choice of the student and their parent(s). It will of course also be at the discretion of the teacher as the students would need to be of a suitable standard i.e. is ready for the said exam.
