For dance fans, part of New Year is deciding what performances they must see in the year to come. And as ever, 2018 has some amazing dance performances available around the country. The team at Jade Harrison School of Dance are always excited about both the next performance they are going to see and the performances that their students are going to take part it.
Here are a few performances that we are excited about for 2018!
1. Jade Harrison School of Dance
For the Students at the best ballet school in North Tyneside there are always opportunities to perform either at the school itself in their state of the art performance areas or at local and regional theatres across the North East. 2. Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella
Matthew Bourne’s version of the classic Cinderella story is definitely different – set in World War II in London during the Blitz. See the prince replaced by an RAF pilot and the musical score accented with air raid sirens! The ballet is touring the country and will be showing in Newcastle in 2018!
3. Aladdin
A Disney classic, the stage production of Aladdin is available at the Prince Edward Theatre in London through until April. The show is a great telling of the classic story including his encounter with the genie and the famous three wishes in all singing, all dancing spectacular production.
4. Les Misérables
The Queen’s Theatre is hosting one of the most successful stage shows in history which has been seen by some 70 million people and translated into 22 different languages around the world. The show continues to break records, now having been staged in 44 countries. The show is available through to October.
5. Thriller
If you are a Michael Jackson fan or love his music from the Jackson 5 time, then you will love this show. After three successful tours around the country, the production will be based at the Lyric Theatre in London and offers visitors two hours of famous hits and amazing music. Available through to September.
6. Romeo and Juliet
The Shakespearean tragedy needs little introduction and is once more available for musical fans to enjoy. The tale of two young lovers from warring families is available at the Birmingham Hippodrome from June onwards.
7. The Phantom of the Opera
If you have never seen it before or want to enjoy it again, the Phantom of the Opera with its mesmerising characters, effects and the stunning musical score is available through until March at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.
8. Kinky Boots
If you want some light-hearted fun, then the musical of Kinky Boots is available at the Adelphi Theatre in London until June. The show features music by Cyndi Lauper and is based on a true story.
9. School of Rock
Another adaptation of a film, School of Rock is an award-winning production that looks at the efforts to transform a group of A-grade students into a rock group to take on the Battle of the Bands. Available at the New London Theatre until end of January.
10. Matilda
The famous Roald Dahl story is now a musical available at the Cambridge Theatre. It is a production by the Royal Shakespeare Company and celebrates 100 years since the author was born with this award-winning production.
